Neil B. Oberfeld and Samuel L. Levy, shareholders in the Denver office of the international law firm Greenberg Traurig LLP, have been elected as National Commissioner and Associate National Commissioner, respectively, of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). Oberfeld has served on the commission since 2001 while Levy was newly elected. The National Commission is a leadership body of the ADL charged with addressing the direction and administration of the ADL’s activities.

Levy and Oberfeld were selected by Barry Curtiss-Lusher, national nominating committee chair. The election took place at the annual National Commission meeting at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York City on Nov. 3.

“ADL National Commissioners provide advisory and financial support from the regional offices,” explained Stu Pack, national development chair for the Anti-Defamation League. “Neil and Sam are already members of the regional ADL board, and will now also be involved in the decision-making process that guides the organization at a national level. In addition, Neil will continue is his role as chair of the development committee, while Sam will carry on as co-chair of the Legacy Endowment Campaign, the planned giving committee.”

To be considered for nomination and election, an individual must be familiar with ADL programs and participate at the regional and national levels. National Commissioners make a personal commitment to the basic charter of ADL which is “to stop the defamation of the Jewish people and secure justice and fair treatment to all,” including a personal commitment to support the work of the ADL in the Jewish and Non-Jewish Community.

Oberfeld practices in the real estate and finance areas. He serves as a trustee of Rose Community Foundation and chairs the Jewish Life Committee. He sits on the Governor’s Commission for Community Service, serves on the Colorado Business Advisory Committee and the International Counsel of Shopping Center’s (ICSC) National Law Committee. In 2010, Oberfeld earned a spot among Law Week Colorado’s “Lawyers of the Year” and, in 2005, received the Volunteer Lawyer of the Year Award from the Denver Bar Association. He is also a member of the Denver and Colorado Bar Associations. Oberfeld earned his B.A. in Economics from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1984 and his J.D. from Boston University School of Law in 1987.

Levy practices in the areas of taxation, real estate and corporate transactional planning, real estate syndication, estate and business planning and probate law. His practice also includes the formation and representation of tax-exempt charitable organizations and estate planning for charitably-active clients through private foundations and related vehicles. Levy is a member of the Taxation and Real Property, Probate and Trust law sections of the American and Colorado Bar Associations. He is on the Public Affairs Council of the Denver Metro Chamber, the Tax Council of the Colorado Association of Commerce and Industry and a past board member of various other community organizations. Levy earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering at Tulane University in 1971 and his J.D. at the University of Colorado Law School. He also holds a LL.M. in taxation from the New York University School of Law and an M.S. in Finance at the University of Colorado at Denver.

Planning your Christmas party or a romantic Christmas Eve dinner with an overnight hotel stay can be hindered by not finding any available hotel rooms over Christmas. Many hotel reservation websites offer hotels, packages and special deals for Christmas, but how many actually have available rooms for the most important date on the calendar.

In research conducted by HotelsCombined.com this week, the following eight leading travel sites were compared for hotel availability over Christmas: Booking.com, Gtahotels.com, HotelClub.com, Hotwire.com, Lastminute.com, Laterooms.com, Priceline.com and Opodo.co.uk.*

HotelsCombined.com compared the number of available hotels returned by these sites for the world’s ten most visited cities: Paris, Barcelona, London, New York, Beijing, Mexico City, Rome, Istanbul, Frankfurt and Moscow.

Booking.com topped the list with a total of 2,394 available hotels across ten cities, providing substantially more availability than the other seven websites, despite not having any available hotels for Moscow.

HotelClub.com came second and GTAhotels.com third with a total of 1,591 and 1,582 available hotels respectively.
